Quality Assurance in Service Businesses
Quality assurance in service businesses is almost always reactive. Something goes wrong. The client complains. You fix it. You apologize. You promise it will not happen again. And then it happens again.
This is broken. And it is expensive.
Every quality failure costs you twice. Once to fix the problem. And again in lost trust with the client. Enough quality failures and you lose the client entirely. Then you have to spend money and time finding a replacement.
At A Foundery, quality assurance is built into the delivery process, not bolted on after the fact. Every piece of work goes through a defined quality check before it reaches the client. The check is based on objective criteria from the SOP, not subjective judgment.
Here is what that looks like in practice. When a delivery pod completes a piece of work, it goes to a QA reviewer. The reviewer checks it against the documented standards. Does it meet every requirement? Are there any errors? Is it formatted correctly? Only after the work passes QA does it go to the client.
This adds time to the process. We know that. But the time it adds is far less than the time you spend fixing problems after the fact. Prevention is always cheaper than correction.
The QA process also generates valuable data. When you track what kinds of errors are caught in review, you can see patterns. If the same mistake keeps showing up, you know there is a gap in training or in the SOP. Fix the root cause and the errors stop.
We have seen companies in our portfolio reduce client complaints by more than eighty percent after implementing proper QA processes. Not because the team got better overnight, but because mistakes were caught and fixed before the client ever saw them.
Quality is not about hiring perfect people. It is about building systems that catch imperfections before they matter.
