What Main Street Actually Needs
Walk down any Main Street in America and you will see the same kinds of businesses. A dentist. An accountant. A plumber. A property manager. A local retailer. A restaurant.
These businesses have survived for decades. Some for generations. They make money, employ people, and serve their communities. But most of them are running on outdated operations.
Talk to the owner of a plumbing company doing two million in revenue and ask them about their biggest challenges. They will not say they need a better app. They will say things like I can not find good help. My invoices are always late. I spend all day on the phone instead of doing actual work. I know I am leaving money on the table but I do not know where.
These are solvable problems. They just require a different approach than what the tech world typically offers.
Main Street does not need disruption. It needs support. The businesses there are already successful. They just need help running better.
They need someone to handle their books so the numbers are always clean. They need someone to follow up on overdue invoices so cash flow stays healthy. They need someone to answer the phone professionally when they are on a job site. They need someone to manage their online presence so customers can actually find them.
This is not exciting work from a Silicon Valley perspective. But it is incredibly valuable work from a Main Street perspective.
At A Foundery, we build companies that provide these exact services. Professional back office operations for businesses that have outgrown doing it themselves but have not yet reached the scale where they can build their own internal teams.
The market is enormous. The need is real. The clients are grateful when you do good work because nobody else is serving them well.
Main Street has been overlooked for too long. We are changing that.
